Project Highlight: Exploring Design Possibilities: Presenting Three General Arrangement Options for a Principal Suite

When embarking on an interior architecture project, understanding and catering to the client's vision is paramount. Recently, we had the pleasure of working on a luxurious home in South West London where we developed two distinct general arrangement options before moving on to the full concept design phase. This approach not only allowed us to explore different spatial possibilities but also ensured that our client could visualise and select the layout that best suited their lifestyle and aesthetic preferences.

Project Overview

The project involved a high-end residential property requiring a comprehensive redesign to enhance both functionality and visual appeal. Our goal was to create a seamless flow between spaces while incorporating elements of luxury and comfort. Given the scope and scale of the project, presenting multiple layout options was essential to provide our client with a clear understanding of the potential directions we could take.

Option 1

Our first general arrangement option focused on the bedroom situated at the back of the property. Based on our client’s brief to position the bed facing a window, we created a pony wall which formed the headboard, defining the sleeping area but also enhancing circulation and flow between bedroom and dressing room.

Option 2

The second option presented positioned the bedroom at the front of the house, allowing us to retain the fireplace and providing an optimised bathroom arrangement.

Option 3

Our recommendation for our client was to position the bedroom at the front of the house to maximise space and improve the bathroom layout. However, we suggested reorienting the bed to face the fireplace, which allowed us to incorporate custom joinery and enhance both flow and symmetry in the room.
